Race the Red Zone

We are working on faster speed in and out of the walls.  My group affectionately refers to this as "racing the red zone."

The red zone is the area between the flags and the wall on both sides of the pool.  It is good to think about it when you leave the wall, swim your turns, and when racing in for your finish.

Begin to increase your speed a little before the flags.  Increase your arm speed (maintaining a good distance per stroke) and try to over-kick with fast feet.

It is SO important to practice this technique during practice, and it will feel more natural while racing.

Watch the video below and notice the swimmers who have a faster arm tempo and over-kick from the flags in and out.

Give it a try!
