SMART BREATHING PATTERNS


Be sure to focus on breathing patterns during meet preparation.
Below are guidelines to follow.  The patterns may be adjusted for different swimmers. 
Always check with your coach.

50 FREE     9-10 year old     1st 25 = 1-2 breaths   2nd 25 = 2-3 breaths
                  11-12 year old     1st 25=   1   breath     2nd 25 = 2-3 breaths
100 FREE and above breathe every 3

NEVER BREATHE IN AND OUT OF WALLS!

50 FLY     9-10 year old     1st 25 = 1-2 breaths   2nd 25 = 2-3 breaths
                11-12 year old     1st 25     1 breath       2nd 25 = 2-3 breaths

100 and above breathe every other 

It will take practice, work, and the willingness to be UNCOMFORTABLE to get used to new breathing patterns.  Your diligence will pay off with improved times.
