Turns on the Diagonal

Turns can be tricky in a crowded lane.

Use good technique, planning, and care when executing your turn.  
Careful execution will prevent you from colliding with another swimmer.

Execution:
  • Leave 5 seconds after the swimmer in front of you
  • Circle swim (on the right side of the lane) until you reach the flags
  • Cross under flag and aim body toward the left in a diagonal line
  • Flip and plant feet on the left side of the wall 
  • Push straight off (deep, strong and on your back) beside the lane rope (your left shoulder will be right next to the lane rope)
