"Get your time" is a phrase said often at the pool. It helps a swimmer stay motivated to improve when they know their times for 50s, 100s, 200s, etc. Swimmers should be in the habit of watching the clock and "getting" their times. However, when the coach says, "I am timing this one," that adds extra incentive for swimmers to push a little harder.
The practice of "getting our times", even in mundane, daily activities can keep us on task and efficient. Try timing anything from running, to completing chores or homework or music practice. Hope it helps!
